Women over 40 do not need a referral
It is recommended that women over
the age of 40 receive a yearly mammogram to continue breast health. Insurance companies will cover the total cost
of a yearly mammogram if you are a woman over 40 and it has been at least 365
days since you’re last exam. Mammograms
are one of the few exams where you can self refer for an exam and still have
insurances cover the cost. For most
exams you would need a doctor’s referral for insurances to authorize payment
but that is not the case for Mammograms.
